Designed as a visual tool to assist Foundation students to compare quantities, Comparing Quantities is a lovely assessment tool for teachers to use during maths rotations or for individual assessment checklists.
Encourage students to use the words ‘more’, ‘less’, ‘same as’ and ‘not the same as’ and provide reasons for these answers.
Name, represent and order numbers including zero to at least 20, using physical and virtual materials and numerals
Quantify and compare collections to at least 20 using counting and explain or demonstrate reasoning
Compare, order and make correspondences between collections, initially to 20, and explain reasoning
