This assessment task has been designed to use at the conclusion of the Importance of Country for First Nations Australians unit. It contains 3 parts that allow students to demonstrate their understanding of ‘Country’ and its importance to First Nations Australians. It also allows students the opportunity to demonstrate how they can respect and care for Country, as well as make their own connections.
You may choose to complete the 3 sections over 3 sessions.
The importance of Country/Place to First Nations Australians and the Country/Place on which the school is located
The Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Country/Place on which the school is located and why Country/Place is important to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Country/Place on which the school is located and why Country/Place is important to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the ways in which they maintain special connections to particular Country/Place
Identify how people are connected to different places
Use the second option for Part C, where students have lines to be able to write a detailed explanation of how they would care for Country.
