This double-sided placemat was designed for Year 1 classes. Type in your students' names and then print. Once laminated, these placemats will last throughout the year as a highly useful reference. We've designed this placemat to be easily read by students in either A3 or A4 format.
Read and write some high-frequency words and other familiar words
Name, represent and order numbers including zero to at least 20, using physical and virtual materials and numerals
Sort, name and create familiar shapes; recognise and describe familiar shapes within objects in the environment, giving reasons
Represent practical situations involving addition, subtraction and quantification with physical and virtual materials and use counting or subitising strategies
Represent practical situations involving equal sharing and grouping with physical and virtual materials and use counting or subitising strategies
Establish understanding of the language and processes of counting by naming numbers in sequences, initially to and from 20, moving from any starting point
Represent practical situations to model addition and sharing
Know how to read and write some high-frequency words and other familiar words
Sort, describe and name familiar two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects in the environment
Demonstrates developing skills in using letters, simple sound blends and some sight words to represent known words when spelling
Manipulates, sorts and describes representations of two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, squares and rectangles, using everyday language
Manipulates, sorts and represents three- dimensional objects and describes them using everyday language
Describes mathematical situations using everyday language, actions, materials and informal recordings
Uses objects, actions, technology and/or trial and error to explore mathematical problems
Uses concrete materials and/or pictorial representations to support conclusions
Counts to 30, and orders, reads and represents numbers in the range 0 to 20
Combines, separates and compares collections of objects, describes using everyday language, and records using informal methods
Applies phonological, orthographic and morphological generalisations and strategies to spell taught familiar and high-frequency words when creating texts
Understands and effectively uses Tier 1 words and Tier 2 words in familiar contexts
Uses single-letter grapheme–phoneme correspondences and common digraphs to decode and encode words when reading and creating texts
Reads decodable texts aloud with automaticity
Reads numerals and represents whole numbers to at least 20
Describes and compares areas of similar shapes
Sorts, describes, names and makes two-dimensional shapes, including triangles, circles, squares and rectangles
Reasons about number relations to model addition and subtraction by combining and separating, and comparing collections
Forms equal groups by sharing and counting collections of objects
Represent practical situations to model sharing
Represent practical situations to model addition and subtraction
Represent practical situations that model sharing
Compare, order and make correspondences between collections, initially to 20, and explain reasoning
Establish understanding of the language and processes of counting by naming numbers in sequences, initially to and from 20, moving from any starting point
Understand that spoken sounds and words can be written and know how to write some high-frequency words and other familiar words including their name
Sort, describe and name familiar two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects in the environment
