In this worksheet, students get the chance to try and use a few different sample surveys to practise asking questions and recording data. They then take the data they have recorded and move it to the computer to make tables and data in your favourite spreadsheet program. This is excellent practise and the perfect scaffolding for the later assessment.
This worksheet is part of a larger unit designed for Year 4 that helps students develop their statistical investigation skills by walking them through the necessary stages to plan, conduct and analyse a statistical investigation and then communicate their findings.
Conduct statistical investigations, collecting data through survey responses and other methods; record and display data using digital tools; interpret the data and communicate the results

Collects discrete data and constructs graphs using a given scale
Iinterprets data in tables, dot plots and column graphs
This can be turned into a pairs or group activity if you are going to survey other classrooms to aid students who might struggle to complete it on their own, and to minimise the disruption of other classrooms.
Have students present their findings and the graphs they made either as a class or in small groups.
