This presentation has been created to guide students through an introduction to maps and their uses. The presentation encourages class participation when looking at what maps are, their uses and how they can be interpreted. This presentation is a part of a bigger Year 2 unit on position and location.
Locate positions in two-dimensional representations of a familiar space; move positions by following directions and pathways
Interpret simple maps of familiar locations and identify the relative positions of key features
Describes mathematical situations and methods using everyday and some mathematical language, actions, materials, diagrams and symbols
Represents and describes the positions of objects in everyday situations and on maps
