Activity Pack - Year 4
This free Year 4 activity pack gives teachers a collection of maths, English and other learning area worksheets and games aligned to the Australian Curriculum. The 37-page Teach This pack includes a reward chart and bookmarks, maths pages on
comparing and ordering large numbers, place value to 10 000, angles, fractions and times tables, with board games such as Croco Troppo, Place Value Pick and Fraction Fun. English pages cover conjunctions, articles, sequencing a story and narrative writing prompts. Other learning areas include hand washing, hygiene habits, safe and unsafe items to share, an Australian ABC and an animal research report.
Teachers use the pack for relief days, homework, early finishers or the first weeks of the year, because every page is ready to print and needs no preparation. The board games, including Conjunction Castle and Article Attraction, suit rotations and partner work.
Learning goals
- We are learning to recognise, model, represent and order numbers to at least 10 000.
- We are learning to recognise 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/10 and their multiples to a complete whole and fractions of groups in different ways.
- We are learning to recall multiplication facts up to 10 x 10 and related division facts, developing efficient mental strategies.
- We are learning to estimate and compare angles using angle names including acute, obtuse, straight angle, reflex and revolution and recognise their relationship to a right angle.
- We are learning to use comprehension strategies to find literal and inferred meaning in texts and to use and expand on our knowledge to analyse and evaluate texts.
- We are learning to create texts using a range of sentence types, including dialogue and literary devices and work with peers to edit texts and share feedback.

Differentiation
Modifications
Provide a place value chart and MAB blocks for the comparing numbers pages. For the conjunctions pages, give students a FANBOYS reference card and complete the first sentence together.
Extensions
Ask students to extend the animal research report into a short information text with headings and a diagram. Students who finish the place value pages can order a set of six-digit numbers.
