2026 Book Week Fluency Presentation - Lower Primary

2026 Book Week Fluency Presentation - Lower Primary

Introduce young readers to expressive reading with the Book Week Fluency Presentation – Lower Primary. Designed to accompany The Fluency Ladder, this engaging 16-slide PowerPoint helps students discover that reading is much more than saying words correctly, it is about making meaning with their voice. Through interactive demonstrations and whole-class discussion, students learn how pace, volume, expression and punctuation help bring stories to life.

Using simple, age-appropriate examples, students compare different ways of reading the same sentence, explore how punctuation changes meaning, identify the difference between robot reading and fluent reading, and practise matching their voice to the emotions and ideas in a text. Throughout the lesson, students actively listen, discuss, predict and perform, making fluency visible and easy to understand.

Created to support the 2026 Book Week theme Symphony of Stories, this presentation provides the perfect introduction to classroom fluency lessons and pairs seamlessly with The Fluency Ladder, The Fluency Performance Board and The Voice Chatterbox.
