The Day Australia Stops Activity Pack - Years 3 to 6
Extend students' historical thinking with The Day Australia Stops Activity Pack โ Years 3 to 6, a companion resource to The Day Australia Stops Presentation. Rather than simply recalling facts, students investigate local memorials, examine historical evidence and build their own understanding of why remembrance continues more than a century after the First World War.
The activity pack includes differentiated memorial investigations, evidence-based reasoning tasks, historical source analysis for Years 5โ6, ceremony name cards, a keepsake Case File page, visitor question cards and detailed teacher guidance. Students collect evidence directly from local memorials before drawing conclusions, analysing historical recruitment material and reflecting on the experiences of those who served.
With built-in differentiation across three challenge levels and authentic inquiry tasks, this resource develops historical inquiry, critical thinking, empathy and source analysis while providing meaningful preparation for ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day commemorations.
