In this presentation, students are introduced to some of the ideas behind genetics, and that inherited chromosomes explain why families look similar. There is also a brief discussion about genetic conditions that can be inherited, or that can occur when there is an issue copying genes.
This is a part of Teach This’ STEM series and there is an accompanying activity book that will allow you to extend this lesson with appropriate activities for middle and upper primary school.

For younger classes, you may want to simplify the presentation by limiting the slides with in-depth discussions of genes.
