Ship Shape: Make 10 Buddy Game
Ship Shape is a printable number bonds to 10 game for Foundation and Year 1, aligned to the Australian Curriculum, designed for buddy classes and maths rotations. Players flip a number card, look for the number on their ship's portholes that makes 10, and cover it with a counter until all six portholes are full. The pack includes a how-to-play page with tips for Year 5 buddies, four Make 10 ship boards, two Make 20 boards, two blank boards, number cards and a ten-frame helper mat.
Teachers use the game in buddy sessions, maths rotations and as a quick fluency activity. The Make 20 and blank boards give an easy way to challenge confident students. This complete free resource from Teach This is ready to print, so number
bonds practice is set up in minutes.

Modifications
Use the ten-frame helper mat so students can count the empty squares to find the missing number. Play with one ship as a team so students can talk through each turn together.
Extensions
Give confident students the Make 20 boards or ask them to write their own target number on a blank board. Students can record each number sentence they make, such as 3 + 7 = 10.
