Description

A fantastic syllable resource that can be used in a variety of ways:

  • Classroom Display – display the cards as a great classroom reference
  • Hopscotch – Create a numbered ladder on the floor. Students can stand behind the first square and look at a picture/word card. Once they know the word, they then jump once for each syllable. E.g kang/a/roo the student would jump three times and say out loud that that the word has “three syllables”.  
  • Syllable Sorter – Lay out the syllable number cards as headings. Shuffle the picture/word cards and students will sort the words according to their number of syllables.

A great literacy rotation or fast finisher activity.
