The 'Teddy Bears Picnic Rug - Counting, Addition and Subtraction' was designed to assist Foundation students with early counting and early addition skills. They can place a number of Teddy Bear counters on the rug and count them or you can tell subtraction stories where they start with a certain number of bears on the rug and then some leave the picnic. You can assess student understanding of addition and subtraction as you tell stories and students add the number of teddy bears onto the mat or take them away from the mat. It's one of those resources that allows you to use your own imagination and encourage students to use their imagination as they explore the concepts of counting, addition and subtraction.
