Times Table Showdown - Whiteboard Game
Times Table Showdown is a free interactive whiteboard times tables game for Year 3 and Year 4, aligned to the Australian Curriculum. Two teams take turns choosing from twelve Mystery Tiles across three categories, Fives and Tens, Threes and Fours and Mixed Bag, worth 100 to 400 points. The bigger the points, the trickier the multiplication or division question. A right answer wins the points, and a wrong answer lets the other team steal.
Teachers open the file on the interactive whiteboard and play straight away, with the board keeping score as points chips drop into each team's scoreboard. The teacher notes include a script, the full answer key and a strategy explanation for every question, such as halving twice to divide by 4. The game takes 10 to 15 minutes and works as a warm up, revision or end-of-lesson review.

Modifications
Let teams use a multiplication grid for the 100 and 200 point tiles while they build recall. Give students 20 seconds to talk with their team before the captain answers, so everyone can contribute.
Extensions
Ask the team that answers to explain the strategy they used before the answer is revealed. Students can write a new 400-point question for each category and challenge the other team.
