Uppercase and Lowercase Letters Game for Foundation: Memory Match
This uppercase and lowercase letters game for Foundation is Letter Match, a Memory Match interactive whiteboard game by Teach This aligned to the Australian Curriculum. Students recognise and name upper- and lower-case letters and say the most common sound each letter represents. The board shows 16 numbered cards in a four by four grid, hiding eight letter pairs: A, B, D, E, G, H, Q and R. Players tap two cards to flip them and keep any matching capital and lowercase pair. The set includes b, d and q, so children practise letters that are easy to confuse. The notes list every card position.
It opens in Microsoft PowerPoint on any interactive whiteboard, panel or projector, with no macros, no student logins and no student data collected. A game takes 10 to 15 minutes as a two-team battle, which suits a phonics warm-up in the first terms of Foundation.

Differentiation
Modifications
Play the first round with the cards turned face up so students can practise matching before relying on memory. Provide an alphabet strip showing uppercase and lowercase letters side by side for students to check their matches.
Extensions
Ask students to say a word that starts with each letter they match, such as 'g for goat'. Students can write the matched pair on a mini whiteboard after each turn.
