ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day: The Day Australia Stops Presentation
Help students move beyond memorising historical facts and begin thinking like historians with ANZAC Day & Remembrance Day – The Day Australia Stops Presentation. Rather than telling students what to think, this engaging investigation-based PowerPoint invites them to examine real evidence, ask thoughtful questions and uncover why Australia continues to commemorate these significant national days.
Across 22 interactive slides, students investigate local war memorials, analyse historical statistics, explore recruitment posters and wartime postcards, examine primary sources and discuss the meaning of remembrance through inquiry-based learning. Older students extend their thinking by analysing historical evidence, identifying persuasive techniques and considering the messages left unsaid in wartime communications.
Designed to accompany The Day Australia Stops Activity Pack, this presentation encourages respectful discussion while developing historical inquiry, source analysis, critical thinking and empathy. Suitable for both ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, it provides meaningful learning that extends well beyond the classroom ceremony.
