Letter to Next Year's Class Writing Lesson for Years 2 and 3
A Letter to Next Year's Class is an end of year friendly letter writing lesson for Years 2 and 3 from Teach This, aligned to the Australian Curriculum. The 13-slide PowerPoint teaches students what makes good advice, the parts of a letter and how to plan, write and check a letter of tips and encouragement for next year's class. Students read a model letter labelled with its greeting, opening, body, closing and sign-off, then practise making advice stronger and more specific. Planning and writing slides with sentence starters guide students to share what to look forward to, routines to know and tricky things to be ready for.
Teachers can use it as a complete end of year writing lesson. The finished letters make a welcoming display for next year's students and save planning time at the end of term.
