Summer Safety Lesson for Foundation to Year 6
Summer Safety Lesson for Foundation to Year 6 is a 12-slide PowerPoint teaching students to stay safe in the sun, heat, water, outdoors and emergencies.
Students learn the SunSmart actions Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide, applying SPF50+ sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside and reapplying every 2 hours. They learn to keep cool and drink water in the heat, swim between the red and yellow flags, and if in trouble in the water, stay calm, float and raise an arm to signal for help, never entering the water to rescue someone. Outdoor and emergency slides cover hot surfaces, snakes and wildlife, helmets, and Stop, Find an adult, Follow instructions.
It ends with five What Would You Do? scenarios: swimming outside the flags, a hot slide, a snake beside the path, feeling dizzy in the heat and a severe storm warning.
