Times Tables Quiz Whiteboard Game for Years 3 and 4: Mystery Tiles
This times tables quiz game for Year 3 and Year 4 is Times Table Showdown, a Mystery Tiles interactive whiteboard game by Teach This aligned to the Australian Curriculum. Students recall multiplication facts and the related division facts, from 5 × 4 up to 9 × 8 and 32 ÷ 4. Two teams choose from 12 tiles in three categories: Fives and Tens, Threes and Fours, and Mixed Bag. Tiles are worth 100 to 400 points, and the higher values hold trickier facts. The teacher taps Reveal answer to show the answer with a short strategy. Points chips drop into each team's scoreboard automatically.
It opens in Microsoft PowerPoint on any interactive whiteboard, panel or projector, with no macros, no student logins and no student data collected. A game takes 10 to 15 minutes, which suits the end of a maths lesson or a Friday times tables challenge, and the board keeps score for you.

Differentiation
Modifications
Allow teams to use a multiplication grid for the 300 and 400 point tiles. Pair less confident students with a buddy so they can share their thinking before the captain answers.
Extensions
Ask the team that answers correctly to give the related division or multiplication fact for a bonus point. Have each team write its own 500 point question for one of the three categories.
