Times Tables Whiteboard Game for Years 3 and 4: Sheriff's Round-Up
Sheriff's Round-Up is a times tables whiteboard game for Year 3 and Year 4 from Teach This, aligned to the Australian Curriculum. Students recall multiplication facts from the 2 to 10 times tables, such as 3 × 4, 7 × 5 and 8 × 7. Each of the 12 questions shows three outlaws peeking over barrels, each holding an answer sign. Students tap the right sign and the sheriff's star stamps on before the Next button appears. The class has 3 lives for the whole game, so a wrong tap costs a life and that outlaw ducks behind the barrels. Lose all 3 lives and the game ends on a screen that shows how far the class got.
Teachers open the slideshow file and press Start. It plays in Microsoft PowerPoint on any interactive whiteboard, panel or projector, with no macros, no student logins and no student data collected. It suits a maths warm-up, a times tables rotation or a relief day.

Modifications
Give students a multiplication grid to use while they play. Let partners talk through each question before one of them taps an answer.
Extensions
Ask the student who taps to explain the strategy they used, such as doubling or a known fact. Challenge the class to say the matching division fact before moving on.
