Christmas Quiz Whiteboard Game: Santa's Workshop (Foundation to Year 6)
Santa's Workshop Countdown is a Christmas quiz game for Foundation to Year 6 by Teach This, an interactive whiteboard game with questions linked to Australian Curriculum maths and spelling skills. Students solve number problems, spell words and crack riddles. There are five rooms, one for each day of the last week: Toy Factory, Letter Room, Reindeer Stables, Cookie Kitchen and Santa's Sleigh. Each room has three levels, Foundation to Year 2, Years 3 and 4, and Years 5 and 6, with five questions in each. A one-minute reindeer timer runs for every question before the teacher taps Reveal answer. It opens in Microsoft PowerPoint on any interactive whiteboard, panel or projector, with no macros, no student logins and no student data collected.
Open one room each morning in the final week of Term 4, with every student answering on a mini whiteboard. Composite classes can play different levels of the same room, so the whole class takes part in the same Christmas activity.
Differentiation
Modifications
Play the Foundation to Year 2 level with a mixed class and let students work in pairs on one mini whiteboard. Read each clue aloud and allow extra time by pausing before tapping Reveal answer.
Extensions
Ask students to write a sixth question for the room in the same style for the class to solve. Have Years 5 and 6 students explain their working for the Toy Factory and Cookie Kitchen questions on a mini whiteboard.
