Feelings Check-In Whiteboard Tool: Buddy Bunnies (Foundation to Year 6)

Buddy Bunnies Feelings Check-In is a feelings check-in for Foundation to Year 6 by Teach This, an interactive PowerPoint tool for the start of the day or after a break. The board shows eight Buddies: Sad Bunny, Fear Bunny, Lonely Bunny, Disgust Bunny, Love Chick, Joy Chick, Anxious Squish and Angry Squish. Each child taps the Buddy that matches how they feel to open four feeling words. Each page also asks a gentle question, such as What can help me feel a little better? Back to Buddies returns to the board for the next child, and nothing is saved or recorded. It opens in Microsoft PowerPoint on any interactive whiteboard, panel or projector, with no macros, no student logins and no student data collected.

Run it as students come in from lunch, then follow up quietly with anyone who chose a sad, worried or angry Buddy. The feeling words give younger students language for what they feel, which makes your follow-up chat quicker.

Differentiation

Modifications

Read the Buddy names and feeling words aloud for students who are still learning to read. Let a student point to a Buddy on the board instead of tapping if they prefer the teacher to open the page.

Extensions

Ask students to add two more feeling words of their own to the Buddy they chose and share them with a partner. Have older students write an answer to their Buddy's question in a wellbeing journal.
