Paraphrasing to Clarify Meaning - Assessment Rubric
This 5-point assessment rubric is designed to evaluate Year 5 students’ ability to paraphrase texts to clarify meaning. It assesses how accurately students preserve original meaning while changing vocabulary and sentence structure and how clearly and independently they express ideas in their own words. The rubric applies to both fiction and non-fiction paraphrasing tasks and supports consistent, criteria-based assessment of student understanding.
