Class Roll Call Whiteboard Tool: Lolly Jar (Foundation to Year 6)

Lolly Jar Roll Call is an interactive class roll call for Foundation to Year 6 by Teach This, an interactive PowerPoint tool for morning check-in. The screen shows a lolly machine full of numbered lollies from 1 to 30, connected by a chute to an empty Lolly Jar. Each child taps their own class number as they arrive, and their lolly rolls into its matching spot in the jar. Empty spots show at a glance who is not here yet. All here opens a celebration slide. No names appear on screen. It opens in Microsoft PowerPoint on any interactive whiteboard, panel or projector, but the How to use slide notes that it does not play in Google Slides. It has no macros, no student logins and no student data collected.

Assign each student a class number once, then let it run while you greet families. The empty spots show who is away before attendance goes to the office, without calling a single name.

Modifications

Stick each student's class number on their desk or name tag until the numbers are familiar. Let a buddy help a student find and tap their number in the first few weeks.

Extensions

Ask a student helper to count the empty spots and report how many students are away and how many are here. Use the full jar as a quick count by twos, fives or tens with younger classes.
